Watercolor and oil paintings
Geeta Pattanaik's painting "Daily Duties" was exhibited in the 96th Annual International Exhibit of the National Watercolor Society. Please click here to read more about the painting. She was also awarded Signature Membership of the National Watercolor Society after the judges viewed three more paintings she had submitted.
Geeta paints with watercolors and oil paints and her favorite subjects are nature and architecture. She is fascinated by the subtle changes in light and how they affect the subject. The challenge is to transfer this on to her paper or canvas.
She has drawn and painted since she was a child in India, using pencils, oils and watercolors. Over the years she has taken lessons in watercolor, oils, and holds certificates in Watercolor and Oil Painting, Commercial Art and later in Graphic Design on the Mac. The Press Enterprise published an Artist Spotlight on Geeta on July 6, 2012. Please click here to read the article. Even while pursuing a career in librarianship, she has nurtured her love of painting. For many years she did not do a lot of painting but since 2003, she has been painting intensively in watercolors.
Geeta is a Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society and an Associate Member of the American Watercolor Society. Geeta is a member of PAAR (Plein Air Artists of Riverside), which is affiliated to the Riverside Art Museum. She paints on location with PAAR.
